Intelligences of Nature: General
Are humans the only species with intelligence and feelings? An increasing number of scientific studies answers this question with a resounding no. Many members of the Earth community have the capacity for feelings and perceptions. Some behave in ways that seem empathetic, selfless, and even self-aware. Many people now challenge the predominant Western narratives that depict all non-human life as dumb, soulless objects. The world is filled with countless expressions of intelligence–from fish to insects, humans to other animals, and plants to fungi. Just as our species has ways of being and knowing in the world, so do other beings with whom we co-inhabit the planet. This general section is a good starting point to learn more about the Intelligences of Nature.
