Intelligences of Nature: Mammals
Elephants and whales, kangaroos and mice, pigs and dogs, bats and apes—the world of mammals stretches from sky to land to water. Many are carnivores, others are herbivores, and some eat both meat and vegetation. As it turns out, humans are not the only mammal species that experiences happiness, grief, empathy, and other emotions. The inner world of these species is often far more complex than many humans are willing to consider. We have as much to learn about the lives of our mammalian neighbors as they have to teach us about our own.
