Earth Law: Global

Across all continents, the Earth Law movement seeks to shift legal systems away from human-centric models and towards those which recognize legal rights for ecosystems and more-than-human entities. Both Indigenous and Western approaches to Earth Law emphasize ecological justice, interdependence, and the rights of all beings to thrive in a healthy habitat, all to promote a shift from human-centered governance toward Earth-centered law and the well-being of future generations. This movement advances environmental protection through judicial, legislative, and community-based strategies that recognize more-than-human entities as rights-bearing subjects rather than as resources to be exploited.
