The Plant Initiative
The Plant Initiative works to increase respectful treatment of plants and to advance an effective plant advocacy movement through encouraging policy, law, and activism on behalf of plants. One way they do this is by collaborating with others to build partnerships and strengthen networks on behalf of plants through financial assistance, fostering information exchange, and encouraging interdisciplinary and cross-movement collaboration. The Plant Initiative also offers educational programs and materials, including building understanding of plant intelligence, plant sentience, and plant consciousness.

Thinking with Plants & Fungi Initiative
Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard Divinity School
Thinking with Plants & Fungi Initiative is an interdisciplinary exploration into how plants and fungi help us rethink the nature of mind and matter, and humans’ relationship to the more-than-human world.

Mother Tree Project
The Mother Tree Project (MTP) stands at the forefront of regenerative forestry research, addressing the urgent need to safeguard and steward British Columbia’s forests amidst escalating threats from global climate change. Established in 2015 by internationally acclaimed author and UBC’s Department of Forest & Conservation Sciences Professor Suzanne Simard, the MTP is a groundbreaking research initiative that explores innovative strategies for enhancing carbon storage, protecting biodiversity, and promoting forest regeneration in a rapidly changing environment.
